Position Summary
As a valued member of our team, the Dietary and Housekeeping Aide is committed to providing exceptional service while supporting the health, safety, comfort, and well-being of our residents. This position combines hospitality-style dining services with housekeeping responsibilities to help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment throughout the home.
The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent customer service, work collaboratively with team members, and perform all duties in accordance with the organization's mission, values, policies, and legislative requirements.

Schedule
This is a casual/part-time position with varying shifts based on operational needs.
Dietary Shifts:
- 4:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
- 12:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
- 2:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
- 3:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.
Housekeeping Shifts:
- 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
- 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Weekend availability is preferred. Candidates must be willing to work in both Dietary and Housekeeping and pick up shifts as required.
Key Responsibilities
Dietary Services
- Provide hospitality-style dining service in accordance with the Ready-Set-Serve program.
- Set, serve, clear, and clean dining tables.
- Assist with food preparation and presentation under the direction of the Executive Chef.
- Prepare and present resident meal trays.
- Maintain dining rooms, Country Kitchen areas in a clean and tour-ready condition.
- Wash, scrape, stack, and properly store dishes and kitchen equipment.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and sanitation in accordance with Public Health requirements.
- Follow departmental policies, and provincial regulations.
- Support resident satisfaction by delivering courteous, professional customer service.
Housekeeping
- Perform routine cleaning and disinfecting of resident rooms and common areas.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, shampoo carpets, and perform floor care as required.
- Dust, sanitize, and disinfect furniture, fixtures, walls, windows, doors, and other surfaces.
- Clean and disinfect resident bathrooms and replenish supplies.
- Empty waste containers and maintain a clean environment throughout the home.
- Prepare resident rooms for new admissions to ensure they are move-in and tour ready.
- Monitor privacy curtains and notify the supervisor when laundering is required.
- Safely operate housekeeping equipment and use cleaning chemicals according to established procedures.
- Report equipment malfunctions and low supply levels to the supervisor.
- Respect resident privacy and dignity while performing all housekeeping duties.
General Responsibilities
- Work safely in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and organizational policies.
- Follow infection prevention and control practices.
- Participate in emergency preparedness training, drills, and mandatory education sessions.
- Demonstrate professionalism, teamwork, and exceptional customer service.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous housekeeping experience is preferred.
- Previous food service or hospitality experience is considered an asset.
- Safe Food Handling Certification is an asset.
- Health and Safety Certification is an asset.
- Experience working with seniors or in a long-term care or retirement setting is an asset.
- Good understanding of cleaning chemicals, equipment, and safe work practices.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Effective verbal and written English communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Reliable, flexible, and able to work a variety of shifts, including weekends.
Working Conditions
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, lifting, pushing, and pulling.
- Exposure to varying temperatures, cleaning products, and kitchen environments.
- Interaction with residents, visitors, and staff from diverse backgrounds.
- Work in resident rooms, dining areas, kitchens, and common spaces.
