Position Summary
We are looking for a highly experienced and detail-oriented Claims Specialist / Adjuster with strong expertise in truck, trailer, and accident-related claims management. The ideal candidate will be responsible for handling end-to-end claims processes, ensuring timely resolution, cost control, and compliance with industry and insurance standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee all claims related to trucks, trailers, cargo, and transportation accidents
- Investigate incidents including collisions, cargo damage, liability claims, and third-party claims
- Coordinate with drivers, dispatch, safety team, insurance providers, legal teams, and third parties
- Review accident reports, police reports, and internal documentation to determine liability and exposure
- Handle claim documentation, filing, follow-ups, negotiations, and settlements
- Liaise with insurance adjusters and ensure timely reporting and claim closures
- Monitor and minimize company exposure by implementing cost-control strategies
- Track and maintain claim records, reports, and analytics for management review
- Support safety and compliance teams by identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions
- Ensure adherence to provincial regulations, insurance requirements, and company policies
Qualifications & Requirements
- Proven experience (3–5+ years preferred) in claims handling or adjusting within trucking/transportation industry
- Strong knowledge of truck and trailer accident claims, auto liability, cargo claims, and insurance processes
- Experience dealing with insurance companies, brokers, and legal entities
- Excellent negotiation and conflict resolution skills
- Strong analytical and investigative abilities
- Familiarity with fleet safety practices and compliance standards
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word) and claims management systems
- Ability to manage multiple claims and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Detail-oriented with strong documentation and reporting skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in claims adjusting (CIP, FCIP, or equivalent) is an asset
- Experience in transportation/logistics industry strongly preferred
- Knowledge of Ontario trucking regulations and accident procedures
