Residence Inn by Marriott Halifax Downtown is an extended-stay hotel dedicated to providing exceptional hospitality and a warm, welcoming experience for our guests. Every morning, we proudly serve a complimentary hot breakfast, and we are looking for a reliable and enthusiastic Breakfast Cook to join our team.
Position Summary
We are seeking motivated individuals for Full-Time, Part-Time, and Casual Breakfast Cook positions. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, takes pride in preparing quality food, and enjoys interacting with guests.
Shifts typically begin between 5:00 AM and 6:00 AM and run through the late morning or early to late afternoon.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook items for our daily complimentary breakfast buffet
- Complete food preparation before breakfast service
- Maintain a clean, organized, and food-safe kitchen and breakfast area
- Refill and monitor buffet items throughout service
- Welcome and assist guests in a friendly and professional manner
- Ensure food quality, freshness, and presentation meet Marriott standards
- Follow food safety, sanitation, and health regulations
- Receive and organize food deliveries
- Assist with inventory management and ordering
- Complete daily opening, operating, and closing duties
- Work collaboratively with the Front Office and Housekeeping teams when needed
Qualifications
- Previous cooking or kitchen experience is preferred
- Experience in hotels, restaurants, or breakfast service is an asset
- Food Handler Certification is considered an asset (training and assistance to obtain certification can be provided)
- Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and stand for extended periods
Availability
- Early morning availability is required
- Weekend availability is strongly preferred
- Open and flexible availability is considered a strong asset
- Ability to work holidays when scheduled
