Position Summary
The Instructor/Therapist plays a key role in delivering structured programming, therapeutic support, and individualized instruction to participants. This role blends behavioural support, life‑skills teaching, vocational training, and relationship‑building to help each participant reach their personal goals in a safe, supportive environment.
This position is ideal for someone who is patient, creative, and passionate about working with neurodiverse individuals.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide individualized and group instruction in areas such as life skills, vocational skills, communication, social skills, and recreation.
- Support participants using trauma‑informed, strengths‑based approaches.
- Implement daily programming plans and adapt activities to meet diverse needs and abilities.
- Offer behavioural support and emotional regulation assistance as needed.
- Facilitate hands‑on vocational tasks (e.g., cooking, baking, cleaning routines, customer service practice, money handling, job readiness activities).
- Encourage independence, confidence, and skill development through consistent coaching and positive reinforcement.
- Maintain a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment at all times.
- Document participant progress, goals, and daily notes as required.
- Communicate effectively with the team, caregivers, and leadership regarding participant needs and successes.
- Participate in team meetings, training, and ongoing professional development.
- Support community outings, engagement activities, and structured social opportunities.
- Developmental Services Worker (DSW) Diploma – 2‑year college program
- Relevant experience working with neurodiverse individuals, developmental disabilities, or behavioural support
- NVCI Level 2 certification (Non‑Violent Crisis Intervention)
- Clear Vulnerable Sector Screening (VSS)
- CPR/First Aid Level C certification
- Strong interpersonal skills, patience, and the ability to build supportive relationships
- Ability to adapt programming and provide hands‑on, trauma‑informed supportWhat We’re Looking For
