Position Title: Pathways to Growth – Summer Day Camp Counsellor
Pay rate: $17.60/Per hour

Locations: This role is primarily in-person at our Mississauga location in the Peel Region.
Position Overview
We are seeking compassionate, energetic, and reliable individuals to join our team as Summer Day Camp Counselors. Individuals will be helping to build and facilitate a summer camp for youth with developmental disabilities. This role focuses on creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment where campers can build social skills, confidence, and independence while enjoying a fun summer experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and lead daily recreational, educational, and social activities tailored to campers’ abilities and interests
- Adapt activities to meet individual needs and ensure accessibility for all participants
- Provide direct support and supervision to campers, always ensuring their safety and well-being
- Communicate effectively and respectfully with campers, using appropriate strategies to support varying communication needs
- Build positive relationships with campers, encouraging participation, inclusion, and personal growth
- Collaborate with team members to deliver consistent, high-quality programming
- Maintain clear and professional communication with parents and guardians, including updates on camper progress, needs, and daily experiences
- Assist with behavior support strategies and follow individualized care or support plans as required
- Ensure all camp policies, procedures, and safety protocols are followed
- Execute proper drop off and pick up of all clients.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience working with children or youth with developmental disabilities is an asset
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Creativity and enthusiasm for planning and leading activities
- Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude
- Ability to problem-solve and adapt in dynamic environments
- First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain) is preferred
Working Environment
· Standard workday as follows with occasional flexibility:
o Monday – Friday 8:30 am -3:30 pm
o In-person to be conducted in Peel Region (Brampton and Mississauga)
o 8 Weeks (June 15, 2026 – August 07, 2026)
· Our environment is dynamic and fast paced – must be able to interact with a variety of community members, on the go staff as well as learners.
· Some lifting of small boxes and other small tasks may be needed.
· A vulnerable sector check will be required as a condition upon offer of employment.
· Active role requiring participation in indoor and outdoor activities
· May involve standing, walking, and assisting campers throughout the day
