Lead Dental Assistant – Level II

Are you an experienced Dental Assistant who knows how to keep a busy operatory running smoothly, stay three steps ahead of the doctor, and confidently assist with everything from everyday restorative dentistry to complex surgical cases?
BluSky Dental is looking for an experienced Level II Dental Assistant to join our team in a Lead Dental Assistant role. We are looking for someone with strong clinical skills, leadership qualities, and ideally 3–5+ years of dental assisting experience.
The Role: Clinical Excellence & Leadership
As our Lead Dental Assistant, you’ll be an important part of both our clinical team and the overall flow of the office. You should be comfortable working independently, anticipating the doctor’s needs, supporting other assistants, and helping maintain a high standard of patient care and clinical efficiency.
This is not an entry-level position. We’re looking for someone who is confident in their abilities and has experience assisting with a wide range of procedures — from composites and crowns to extractions, bone grafting and implants.
Key Responsibilities
- Comprehensive Chairside Assisting: Confidently assist with all aspects of general and restorative dentistry, including composites, crowns, bridges, root canals and other procedures.
- Surgical Assisting: Experience assisting with surgical procedures is required. You should be comfortable with surgical setups, maintaining sterile fields, anticipating instrumentation and assisting with procedures such as extractions, bone grafting and implants.
- Implant Dentistry: Experience assisting with implant placement and restorative implant procedures is highly valued.
- Clinical Leadership: Help set the standard for organization, efficiency and patient care within the assisting team. Be someone other team members can confidently turn to for guidance and support.
- Operatory & Clinical Flow: Stay ahead of the schedule by ensuring rooms, instruments, materials and equipment are prepared for each procedure.
- Patient Care: Help patients feel comfortable and informed throughout their appointments, particularly during longer or more complex procedures.
- Sterilization & IPAC: Maintain excellent infection prevention and sterilization standards and help ensure clinical protocols are consistently followed.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with our doctors, assistants, hygienists and administrative team to keep the day running smoothly.
What You Need to Succeed
- Level II Dental Assistant certification is required.
- 3–5+ years of dental assisting experience is strongly preferred.
- Surgical assisting experience is required, including experience with more complex dental procedures.
- You should be comfortable assisting with a broad range of dentistry — from a simple composite to an implant case.
- Strong knowledge of dental instruments, materials, procedures and clinical workflows.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to anticipate what the doctor will need next.
- A proactive mindset — you see what needs to be done and take initiative.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a busy, collaborative team.
- Orthodontic/Invisalign experience is a bonus.
