Event and Operations Manager: Plie Prep
Location: Edmonton, AB (on-site)
Travel required: Yes, to events across Alberta and Western Canada
Type: Full-time
Compensation: Between $44,000 - 65,000.00 yearly
Why This Role Exists
Plie Prep started in 2020 as a fundraiser and a way to give dancers a chance to perform when the pandemic shut everything else down. What began as a couple hundred youth
competing online has grown into a full Dance Competition Season across Western Canada, built on simple belief: dance should be an beneficial and encouraging experience that builds confidence for our young dancers!
That's the whole reason Plie Prep exists: to offer and run events where the focus is on
growth, joy, and inclusion of all Dancers, instead of just medals and placings. Every dancer,
regardless of ability, age, or level should get their moment to shine.
We're looking for someone who gets why that matters and who wants to help build the operational backbone that makes it possible.
The Role
You'd be stepping in as the right hand to Plie Prep's founder. You are the person she can hand
things to and trust they'll get done to the standard the brand is known for.
You'll be running point on the logistics that make each event happen, from the
first booking to the final Adjudication.
Day to day you'll:
· Order medals, trophies, and event merchandise, and manage supplier relationships
· Build out schedules for our dance intensives and turn them into workbooks
· Staff our intensives and events, coordinating a mix of regular team members and seasonal event staff
· Check in with venues ahead of events to confirm details are locked down
· Follow up with studios on events that need a registration push
· Keep the website updated and accurate for studios and families
· Help onboard and troubleshoot with our registration system provider
During event season (Spring is our busiest stretch), you'll:
· Travel to events across our circuit — including stops in Calgary, Morinville, North Battleford, and Lethbridge — for 4-6 days at a time
· Coordinate hotel, caterer, and staffing bookings for each stop (working alongside our part-time logistics assistant)
· Be the on-the-ground problem-solver when something inevitably needs fixing mid-event
Who You Are
· You've worked in operations or events before, ideally in a service-based business where you were juggling schedules, vendors, and people at the same time
· You have serious attention to detail; the kind where a wrong headcount or a missed follow-up email actually bothers you
· You're comfortable being handed a messy problem and figuring out how to systemize it, not just execute a checklist
· You communicate clearly and warmly with studios, parents, teachers, vendors, and your own team
· You're organized enough to run multiple moving pieces at once without things falling through the cracks
· You're willing to travel 4-6 days at a stretch during event season, and you hold a clean driver's abstract and Class 5 license
· Experience in the competitive dance industry, or a real love for it, is a strong asset. You don't need to have danced, but you should understand why this world matters to the families in it
What We Value
Reliability, clear communication, and doing things right the first time. We're a small,
mission-driven team where everyone pitches in, everyone's work is visible, and
everyone's expected to bring initiative rather than wait to be told what's
next.
Plie Prep is based in Edmonton, AB, and runs dance competitions and conventions.
We believe Dance is about SO much more than the medals!
