About United Motorz
United Motorz is a growing independent automotive business serving the Kitchener-Waterloo market, with operations across vehicle sales, automotive service, and collision/body repair.
As we continue to grow, we are strengthening our financial reporting, accounting, and analytics capabilities to provide better visibility into dealership performance and support better business decisions.
We are looking for a Financial Analyst – Dealership Accounting & FP&A who combines strong accounting fundamentals with commercial and analytical thinking.
This is a hands-on role for someone who can ensure the numbers are accurate, understand what is driving them, and help management determine what to do next.
The Role
The Financial Analyst will own the core accounting, financial reporting, forecasting, and performance analytics for the dealership.
The role operates within a matrix organizational structure, reporting functionally to the CFO while working closely with and supporting the CEO and Director of Operations on dealership performance and business decisions.
You will also partner closely with the Sales Manager, Buyer, Office Manager, and other dealership personnel.
The position combines two important areas:
Dealership Accounting – ensuring the financial records, inventory, reconciliations, and financial statements are accurate.
FP&A & Business Partnership – helping management understand profitability, inventory performance, cash requirements, trends, and opportunities to improve the business.
Core Responsibilities:
1. Dealership Accounting & Financial Reporting
Own the dealership’s day-to-day accounting and month-end financial reporting, including general ledger activity, reconciliations, accruals, and preparation of the Income Statement, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow reporting.
Ensure financial records are accurate, complete, and supported.
2. Vehicle Inventory & Deal Accounting
Maintain accurate financial records for vehicle inventory and completed sales.
Ensure vehicle purchases, acquisition costs, reconditioning costs, sales proceeds, and cost of sales are appropriately captured and reconciled at the vehicle/VIN level.
3. Financial Planning & Analysis
Prepare budgets, forecasts, cash-flow projections, and financial analysis to help management understand expected dealership performance.
Explain significant differences between actual results, budgets, and forecasts and identify the underlying business drivers.
4. Profitability & Inventory Analytics
Provide visibility into vehicle and deal profitability, gross margins, inventory aging, inventory turnover, reconditioning costs, and acquisition performance.
Work with the Buyer and Sales Manager to identify opportunities to improve margins and inventory performance.
5. Management Reporting & Decision Support
Develop and maintain meaningful dealership KPIs and management reporting covering sales, gross profit, inventory, expenses, cash, and other key performance indicators.
Turn financial information into clear insights and recommendations for the CFO, CEO, and Director of Operations.
6. Financial Controls & Process Improvement
Maintain strong financial controls and continuously improve accounting, reconciliation, reporting, and analytical processes.
Help build scalable financial processes as United Motorz continues to grow.
What Success Looks Like
Success in this role will be measured across six core pillars:
1. Financial Accuracy & Control
Financial records, reconciliations, inventory accounting, and financial statements are accurate, complete, and reliable.
2. Timely Financial Reporting
Month-end reporting and management information are delivered consistently and on time.
3. Inventory & Profitability Visibility
Management clearly understands vehicle profitability, gross margins, inventory aging, reconditioning costs, and where capital is being deployed.
4. Forecasting & Cash Visibility
Leadership has a reliable view of expected financial performance, cash requirements, and vehicle purchasing capacity.
5. Business Partnership
Financial information is translated into meaningful insights and recommendations that help management make better decisions.
6. Process Improvement
Financial processes become increasingly controlled, efficient, automated, and scalable as the dealership grows.
Qualifications & Capabilities
1. Education in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
2. Strong accounting fundamentals, including general ledger, reconciliations, month-end close, and financial statements.
3. Automotive dealership accounting or finance experience is strongly preferred.
4. Experience with budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and management reporting.
5. Strong Microsoft Excel and analytical skills.
6. Experience working with inventory and vehicle-level profitability is an asset.
7. Strong attention to detail with the ability to investigate discrepancies and solve problems independently.
8. Ability to communicate financial information clearly to both financial and operational leaders.
9. Comfortable working in a growing, entrepreneurial environment where processes continue to evolve.
10. CPA designation or progress toward an accounting designation is considered an asset.
The Person We’re Looking For
1. We are looking for someone who is comfortable moving between accounting and analysis.
2. You should be able to ensure the dealership’s financial records are accurate while also stepping back to understand what the numbers are telling us about the business.
3. You are curious, analytical, organized, and willing to investigate when something doesn’t make sense.
4. Most importantly, you understand that finance is not simply about reporting what happened — it is about helping the business understand why it happened and what we should do next.
Why Join United Motorz?
1. This is an opportunity to take meaningful ownership of the finance function within a growing automotive business.
2. You will work directly with the CFO, CEO, and Director of Operations and gain exposure to both the financial and operational sides of the dealership.
3. For someone looking to develop beyond traditional dealership accounting into a broader FP&A and business-partnering role, this position provides an opportunity to do both.
