Dispatch Officer
Site Description:The Halifax Infirmary is home to the Charles V. Keating Emergency and Trauma Centre. It also houses a number of inpatient units, surgery departments, and outpatient clinics.
The Victoria General houses in patient and outpatient clinics and services.

Position: Dispatcher
Site: Halifax Infirmary
Job Type: Full-Time, Part-Time
Hours: 12pm-8am, 8am-8pm, 8pm-8am
Payrate: $20.50/hour
Key Responsibilities:

As the Dispatcher is the first line of contact for our clients, they must handle all calls in a professional and calm demeanor, providing exceptional customer service.

Maintain a good rapport with all Paladin Employees and management staff, while being cognizant of the confidential information that must be handled and maintained by this position.

Dispatch alarm response calls effectively, concisely, and within designated time frames.

Respond to alarms in a timely manner while ensuring all account instructions are followed correctly.

Accurately update alarm accounts

Creation of hospital ID cards

Complete any other tasks given by the Shift Supervisor/Site Supervisor
Prerequisites:

Ability to lead, plan, organize, delegate and problem solve.

Ability to pay close attention to detail.

Computer knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.

Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal.

Ability to deal with others effectively.
-
Ability to function effectively in a fast paced and stressful environment.

Ability to demonstrate professionalism in all situations.

Ability to prioritize based on severity of the call.

Ability to obtain Security License for the province of Nova Scotia

Valid Intermediate First Aid & CPR - Level C (from a CSA-approved vendor)

English (oral and written) fluency is a must
-
Previous experience in dispatching, or a related field preferred.
