Job Overview:
The Assistant Farm Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the farm, ensuring the health, welfare, and productivity of the flock. This role involves monitoring bird health and barn conditions, ensuring biosecurity protocols are followed, and maintaining production targets in a safe and efficient manner.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Maintain strict biosecurity and sanitation standards to prevent disease
- Oversee feed inventory, ordering, and proper storage
- Operate and supervise the use of farm equipment, including automated feeding and watering systems
- Maintain accurate records of production and mortality
- Ensure compliance with animal welfare standards, food safety regulations, and company policies
- Monitor and respond after hours and on weekends / holidays to alarms or emergencies, including equipment or power failures
Qualifications and Skills:
- Previous experience in poultry farming or livestock operations would be an asset
- Understanding of biosecurity and animal welfare standards is an asset
- Ability to operate and troubleshoot automated barn systems and equipment
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure
- Basic computer and record-keeping skills
- Must have reliable transportation
Working Conditions:
· Work is performed in poultry barns with exposure to dust, noise, odors, and varying temperatures
· Physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods
· May require use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
· Work may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
Pay: $24.00-$27.00 per hour
