We're currently welcoming applications from Whitby, Ajax, Pickering, Oshawa, and Scarborough. This is a home-based caregiving role — you'll be caring for children right in your own home, so please read the full posting closely before you apply.
Tender Years Childcare has spent over 15 years building a reputation as a trusted name in childcare — first through our licensed CWELCC centre, and now through our growing Home Child Care Agency. We're looking for warm, reliable people who want to turn their own home into a place where children feel safe, loved, and excited to learn. If that sounds like you, we'd love to hear from you.
What This Role Looks Like
As a home child care provider, you won't be doing this alone. Every provider in our network will be supported by a dedicated home visitor who gets to know you and the children in your care, checks in regularly, and is there to support you — not just inspect you. You'll also have access to training, resources, and a team behind you that a lot of home-based caregivers simply don't get.
Day to day, you'll be the one shaping the experience: planning activities, guiding little personalities through their big feelings, and building the kind of relationships with families that make them trust you with the most important people in their lives.
What You'll Be Doing
- Providing warm, attentive care and supervision for children across a range of ages, right in your own home
- Planning and leading activities that spark curiosity, creativity, and social growth — tailored to the kids in front of you, not a one-size-fits-all script
- Preparing balanced, kid-friendly meals and snacks that work with each family's dietary needs
- Supporting daily routines — naps, hygiene, toileting or diapering, and everything in between
- Keeping your home's play spaces clean, organized, and genuinely safe for little hands and feet
- Adapting your approach for children with additional or medical needs, with guidance and support from your home visitor
- Modelling patience, kindness, and healthy conflict resolution — the small, everyday moments that shape how kids treat each other
- Keeping parents in the loop with regular updates on their child's day, milestones, and anything on your mind
- Working closely with your home visitor, who's there to support your growth and help you succeed
What We're Looking For
- Real experience caring for children — infants, toddlers, or school-age kids all count
- Comfort in the kitchen: you can put together a nutritious meal or snack without overthinking it
- A patient, genuinely caring approach, and the people skills to match — with kids and with their parents
- Confidence working independently, paired with a willingness to stay connected and communicate with your team
- Experience supporting children with disabilities or additional needs is a real asset, though not required
- A tidy, safety-minded approach to your own space
- Background in early childhood education or teaching is strongly preferred, but not required — we care more about who you are with children than a specific credential
- Willingness to complete a Vulnerable Sector Check and to obtain (or maintain) current Standard First Aid and Infant/Child CPR certification
- A home environment that can meet the safety and space requirements of a licensed child care premises — our team will walk you through exactly what that looks like
What We Offer
- The flexibility of working from home
- A dedicated home visitor in your corner — real support, not just oversight
- Training and professional development opportunities, on us
- The backing of an established, licensed childcare agency with a real track record — not just a listing on an app
- $704 - $1,040 per week
