We pride ourselves on delivering fully engineered, turnkey, ESA-approved installations.Role OverviewWe are looking for a highly skilled, Designated Master Electrician (DME) to join our growing team.
This is not a remote or strictly administrative desk job. You will serve as Solify’s designated master electrician of record with the Electrical Safety Authority (ESA), but your primary day-to-day focus will be hands-on installation, wiring, and field leadership. You will work directly on-site alongside our designated team, leading a small crew composed of a 309A Construction & Maintenance Journeyperson and a Registered Electrical Apprentice.
You must be eager to roll up your sleeves, handle complex tools, pull wire, and drive the execution of our renewable energy projects from start to finish.
Key Responsibilities
Field Execution & Installation (70%):
- Lead and perform physical installations of solar inverters, AC/DC disconnects, battery storage units, EV chargers, and conduit runs.
- Complete main electrical panel upgrades, breaker integration, and critical load configurations.
- Work directly on-site alongside our 309A Journeyperson and Apprentice, leading by example with clean tool work and professional installation standards.
- Troubleshoot and commission complex solar + storage energy systems to ensure seamless grid interconnection.
Crew Leadership & Mentorship (15%):
- Oversee daily site operations and coordinate tasks for the 309A electrician and apprentice.
- Enforce strict on-site safety protocols, ensuring the team treats systems safely and adheres to safety policies.
- Actively train and mentor the registered apprentice, signing off on logbooks and tracking progress according to Skilled Trades Ontario standards.
Regulatory Compliance & Administration (15%):
- Act as Solify's official Designated Master Electrician (DME) of record with the ESA.
- Pull, manage, and close all required ESA permits for residential and commercial projects.
- Ensure all field installations strictly comply with the current Ontario Electrical Safety Code.
- Coordinate and attend site inspections with ESA inspectors to ensure quick, successful closeouts.
Requirements
- Licensing: Must hold a valid, active Master Electrician Licence in good standing with the ESA.
- Exclusivity: In compliance with ESA regulations, you must be able to act as our exclusive DME and cannot hold this designation for another business.
- Experience: Minimum 5+ years of practical electrical experience, with a heavy emphasis on solar PV, battery systems (BESS), EV infrastructure, or commercial service work.
- Fitness: Physically capable of working outdoors, on roofs, climbing ladders, and lifting heavy equipment up to 50 lbs.
- Driver's Licence: Valid Ontario Class 'G' driver's licence with a clean abstract.
- Skills: Excellent blueprint reading skills, deep structural knowledge of the Ontario Electrical Safety Code, and strong crew management capabilities.
