The Site Foreman oversees daily field operations for plumbing and mechanical projects, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and to quality standards. This role supervises crews, coordinates job site activities, supports project execution, and serves as the primary on-site point of contact between field staff, subcontractors, and management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate daily activities of field crews on job sites.
- Plan, assign, and monitor work to ensure projects stay on schedule and within scope.
- Review blueprints, drawings, specifications, and project plans to direct field installation and workflow.
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with company standards, project requirements, safety policies, and applicable codes.
- Conduct site walkthroughs to monitor quality, productivity, material usage, and workmanship.
- Coordinate with project managers, general contractors, inspectors, suppliers, mechanical subtrades and other trades to resolve job site issues.
- Track manpower, project progress, equipment needs, and material deliveries.
- Identify and address field problems, delays, safety concerns, and installation conflicts.
- Lead job site safety meetings and promote a strong safety culture among crew members.
- Train, mentor, and support journeymen, apprentices, and laborers.
- Maintain daily reports, job logs, and other field documentation.
- Assist with scheduling inspections, managing punch lists, and ensuring timely project completion.
Qualifications
- Valid Journeyman plumbing license or certification isrequired.
- Strong knowledge of plumbing systems, gas systems and hydronic systems along with construction practices, and applicable codes.
- Ability to read and interpret all mechanical, architectural and structural blueprints, shop drawings, and project specifications.
- Strong leadership, communication, and crew management skills.
- Proven ability to coordinate multiple tasks and solve problems in a fast-paced field environment.
- Familiarity with safety regulations, job site procedures, and quality control practices.
- Proficiency with basic computer or mobile technology for reports, schedules, and field communication.
- Valid driver's license is required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work on active construction sites in indoor and outdoor environments.
- Frequent standing, walking, climbing, bending, and lifting.
- Ability to access ladders, scaffolding, rooftops, trenches, and confined work areas and heights as needed.
- Ability to safely perform or demonstrate field tasks when required.
Work Environment
The Site Foreman works primarily in the field on active job sites and may travel between multiple locations depending on project needs. This role may require overtime, early starts, occasional weekend work, and responsiveness to changing job site conditions.
