JOB OVERVIEW
This individual must be an effective learner who is highly motivated as well as dedicated to working both independently and with direction from others, maintain ongoing relations with co-workers and management in the Engineering & Design Department. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the end-to-end bid process, ensuring the successful submission of competitive bids and proposals.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- A degree, certificate or diploma from college or university. Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field
- Must have Utility knowledge experience in distribution, transmission and communication Proficiency in Microsoft Office, word, Bluebeam and any estimation software. Minimum 5 years of experience.
Bid Lead role includes but is not limited to the following duties:
Duties:
- Bidding and securing high value utility contracts
- Managing the entire bidding process, from bidding on the tendering websites to proposal submission and post submission for clarifications
- Identifying new revenue opportunities
- Managing submissions of expression of interest, pre-qualification and bid documentation and ensuring compliance with all requirements
- Liase with customers, the executive team and operational leads to support he management on the sales pipeline
- Recording and comparing bids from multiple vendors and subcontractors
- Preparing changes to costs estimates when customers change their plans, or when the availability of materials or labour changes
- Preparing schedules for construction progress to let customers know how long projects will take
- Visiting job sites and analyzing blueprints and plans
- Experienced in managing tendering websites, reviewing bid documents, contracts and preparing submission documents.
- Conduct relevant administrative tasks as required
- Develop and implement bid strategies to secure new business opportunities
- Collaborate with various departments to gather information for bids
- Write, review, and edit proposal content to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Manage the bid submission process and timelines
- Conduct market research to support bid decisions
- Utilize online platforms tools to track bid progress and outcomes
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships throughout the bidding process
The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in bid management, business development, or sales
- Must have previous experience in distribution, transmission and communication
- 3-5 years minimum experience
- Strong project management skills with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines
- Proficiency in Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems like Salesforce
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills
- Ability to analyze market trends and competitor activities
