As an Industrial Refrigeration Mechanic Foreman with Specialty Refrigeration, you will lead and support a team of refrigeration technicians in performing scheduled maintenance, start-ups, troubleshooting, repairs, and construction on industrial refrigeration systems. This includes HFC and natural refrigerant systems such as Ammonia (NH₃), CO₂, and Freon.
You will be responsible for overseeing daily service operations as well as projects, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. The Foreman acts as a key liaison between field crews, project management, and customers, promoting clear communication, professionalism, and Specialty Refrigeration’s commitment to excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate refrigeration technicians on service, installation, maintenance and construction projects.
- Plan daily work activities, allocate resources, and ensure tasks are completed safely and on schedule.
- Perform hands-on technical work, including troubleshooting, system start-ups, and repairs on industrial refrigeration systems (HFC and Natural Refrigerants: Ammonia, CO₂ )
- Support commissioning and startup of new installations and retrofits.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to apprentices and junior technicians.
- Communicate with customers, contractors, and internal teams.
- Maintain accurate documentation of service reports, work orders, and safety records.
- Promote and enforce compliance with all safety, environmental, and company policies.
- Represent Specialty Refrigeration professionally, fostering positive relationships and identifying opportunities for continued growth.
Qualifications:
- Valid Alberta Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Journeyman Certificate or Red Seal Certification.
- Minimum 8* years of experience* in industrial refrigeration service, with strong knowledge of ammonia and CO₂ systems.
- Proven experience in a lead or foreman role considered a strong asset.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license with clean abstract.
- Experience with natural gas-fired equipment required; Class A Gas Ticket considered an asset.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to interpret mechanical and electrical schematics and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
