Job Overview
As a Maintenance Helper, you will support the Maintenance Department by assisting with the repair, installation, and preventive maintenance of industrial machinery and equipment.
This role is ideal for someone looking to build a career in industrial maintenance while gaining hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist Maintenance Technicians with the repair, maintenance, installation, and troubleshooting of industrial machinery and production equipment.
- Move tools, equipment, materials, and machine parts to and from work areas.
- Help replace, adjust, align, and install machine components using hand and power tools.
- Assist with machine dismantling, assembly, testing, lubrication, and preventive maintenance activities.
- Support the installation of new equipment and machinery.
- Follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and all company safety policies during maintenance work.
- Assist with basic welding repairs and simple fabrication work as required.
- Support machine shop activities, including grinding, filing, and shaping parts under supervision.
- Assist with mechanical, electrical, refrigeration, heating, and air conditioning maintenance as directed.
- Help repair and maintain stationary industrial equipment and plant systems.
- Support production staff by assisting in resolving equipment-related issues to minimize downtime.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the maintenance shop, tools, and work areas.
- Paint equipment, machinery, and plant structures as required.
- Report unsafe conditions, hazards, damaged equipment, or maintenance concerns immediately.
- Perform general labour duties and other maintenance-related tasks as assigned.
- Report to work on time and maintain a dependable attendance record.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or maintenance environment is considered an asset.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn industrial maintenance.
- Comfortable using hand tools and power tools safely.
- Forklift experience or certification is an asset (training may be provided).
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding work.
- Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and willingness to work as part of a team.
- Ability to follow instructions, work safely, and comply with company policies.
