Urban Mechanical Ltd. is hiring an experienced Journeyman Service Plumber to join our growing service department in Calgary.
This position is best suited for a plumber who is confident troubleshooting problems, working independently, communicating with customers, and completing repairs in occupied commercial and residential buildings.
Urban Mechanical provides plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration, boiler, hydronic, and controls services throughout Calgary and the surrounding area. Our customers include property managers, condominium corporations, apartment buildings, commercial facilities, restaurants, and homeowners.
Position Responsibilities
- Respond to scheduled and emergency plumbing service calls
- Diagnose leaks, drainage issues, water-pressure problems, and plumbing system failures
- Repair and replace water, drainage, waste, and vent piping
- Troubleshoot and repair toilets, faucets, sinks, valves, pumps, and fixtures
- Perform drain cleaning and blockage removal
- Repair and replace hot water tanks and related components
- Diagnose domestic hot-water and recirculation issues
- Complete boiler, hydronic, and mechanical-room piping repairs
- Repair copper, PEX, cast iron, ABS, PVC, and other plumbing systems
- Identify deficiencies and recommend practical repair or replacement options
- Prepare accurate material lists and repair estimates
- Document work completed, equipment condition, recommendations, and customer approvals
- Take clear jobsite photos and complete digital work orders
- Communicate professionally with customers, property managers, tenants, and building operators
- Maintain an organized service vehicle and appropriate service inventory
- Participate in the company’s rotating on-call schedule
- Follow applicable plumbing codes and company safety procedures
Qualifications
- Valid Alberta Journeyman Plumber certification
- Strong plumbing service and troubleshooting experience
- Commercial service experience is preferred
- Valid Class 5 driver’s licence with a clean driving record
- Ability to work independently and make sound repair recommendations
- Strong customer-service and communication skills
- Ability to diagnose problems efficiently and accurately
- Comfortable working in occupied buildings, mechanical rooms, parkades, rooftops, and confined areas
- Experience with boilers, hydronic heating, pumps, and mechanical equipment is an asset
- Gasfitter certification is an asset
- Experience using mobile work-order software is an asset
- Professional appearance and dependable work habits

Schedule
