JOB SUMMARY
Hestia is looking for a hardworking individual who will work as part of a team in the role of Safety Advisor. The successful candidate must have experience in health and safety in the construction industry. This position requires a motivated and professional that demonstrates integrity, honesty and responsibility. They will report to the OH&S Manager and are responsible for ensuring sites adhere to all OH&S standards, that documentation is prepared and managed. This individual will act as a field subject matter expert and apply industry safety regulations to ensure projects and initiatives are safe and secure for all involved.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Encourages a positive safe environment on sites while adhering to Hestia’s Corporate Health & Safety program
- Actively monitor and influence work progress to ensure compliance with Alberta OH&S regulations
- Ensure COR obligations are met and provide preparation for COR Audits
- Manage site orientations, track all workers and/or visitors
- Works with PM and SS to ensure site specific plans, safety board and signs are in place
- Carry’s out weekly site safety inspections and document and distribute reports
- Monitor and track compliance to safety procedures and policies
- Educates workers on safety standards and best practices, therefore staying informed on recent relevant regulations and requirements
- Leads all incident response and reporting as well as investigation activities
- Conducts weekly Toolbox meetings for site staff
- Reviews all Field Level Hazzard Assessments and documentation
- Coordinate the joint health & safety committees on each project and manage all records
- Communicate safety requirements on site, be a champion of OHS
- Participate and document site inspections, ensures compliance and corrective actions are completed
- Lead root cause investigations
- Tracking and report safety statistics
- Travel to be expected
- Other duties as required by the OH&S Manager
QUALIFICATIONS
- University degree, college diploma or similar, in a specialized area related to occupational health and safety or relevant work experience
- At least 3 to 5years of experience as a National Construction Safety Officer on commercial or multi-unit residential construction sites
- Ability to work independently as well as within a team
- Very strong organizational skills
- High attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong computer skills including MS Office applications
- Experience with Procore is an asset
- Hold a valid class 5 license, own and operate a reliable vehicle

Pay: $36.00-$40.00 per hour
