We are looking for a detail-oriented and reliable Silk Screen and Pad Printing Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will primarily manage printing production while cross-training to assist with other crucial aspects of our fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
Printing Operation & Prepress
- Machine Operation: Efficiently operate screen printing presses and pad printing machines to customize textiles, drinkware, and promotional goods.
- Prepress Prep: Handle full-screen preparation, including stretching, selection, degreasing, coating with film emulsions, and setting up capillary films.
- Ink & Curing Management: Mix and match inks to precise client standards, and ensure proper curing using ovens, UV units, or air-drying methods based on the substrate.
Production, Packing & Warehouse Logistics
- Quality Control: Inspect prints and finished products for defects (smudges, misalignment, color inconsistencies) and replace defective items prior to packaging.
- Finishing Work: Trim, clean up, fold, and pack products securely in preparation for shipping.
- Inventory & Logistics: Inspect incoming and outgoing shipments, organize storage space for new materials, and monitor supply levels.
Equipment Maintenance & Safety
- Post-Run Cleanup: Promptly clean screens, pads, squeegees, and tools after every production run.
- Preventative Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on printing presses to maximize uptime and prevent operational delays.
- Workspace Safety: Maintain a clean, organized work area and immediately clean ink spills to comply with safety standards.
Qualifications and Skills
- Industry Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience operating manual, automated, or semi-automated screen and pad printing machinery.
- Prepress Proficiency: Expert in preparing screens, applying photo-sensitive emulsions, setting up capillary films, and exposing/burning designs.
- Technical Machine Setup: Skilled in registration calibration, squeegee/pad adjustments, and regulating print speeds.
- Ink & Color Competency: Able to mix inks accurately to match Pantone (PMS) colors and perform viscosity testing for consistency.
- Substrate Knowledge: Familiar with curing requirements and chemical properties of inks/solvents across various materials (plastics, metals, glass, textiles).
- Physical Capabilities: Stamina to stand for extended periods, perform precise, repetitive tasks, and safely lift up to 50 lbs (23 kg).
- Project & Time Management: Strong organizational skills to manage multiple production runs simultaneously in a fast-paced setting.
- Team Collaboration: Ability to work productively both independently and collaboratively within a production crew.
- Basic Computer Literacy: Comfort using basic software (e.g., Excel, Gmail, or digital production logs) to track jobs.
