The LBCA is looking for an experienced Basketball Coach to assist in running our grassroots basketball league program for new and developing players this fall. Boys and girls play together, exposing players to the game of basketball in a safe and fun setting with drills, activities and game play . Our program will run September - June and sessions will be held on Monday nights from 6:30-8:30pm and on Friday nights from 4:15-8:15pm. Must be available for Monday and Friday nights.
Responsibilities:
- Assist our Basketball Coordinator in running our recreational basketball program for children and youth in three age groups: 6-8yrs old, 9-11yrs old and 12-14yrs old
- Coach teams for the 9-11yrs and 12-15yrs age groups
- Provides a safe & fun environment for children and youth to learn the sport of basketball
- Actively participate with the children in the program
- Provides friendly customer service
- Put child safety first
- Ensure enforcement of gym rules and regulations
- Maintain order and cleanliness of storage rooms
- Communicate with participants and staff as needed
- Manage difficult participants situations and responds to participant needs including complaints.
Qualifications:
- Experience with basketball coaching/instructing.
- Knowledge of the youth basketball landscape.
- Playing/coaching experience preferred with a focus on youth basketball coaching.
- Strong interpersonal skills and flexibility to work in a rapidly changing environment.
- Strong communication (both written and verbal) with the ability to present ideas clearly and concisely.
- Experience working with children.
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic.
- Valid police clearance with vulnerable sector

Pay: $18.00-$22.00 per hour
