Office Associate 1 in the Product Control Division contributes to the efficient operation of the division and will be responsible for ensuring it by providing administrative support. The job performs a range of general and specific office/clerical tasks including but not limited to entering data, finding out the HS code for CBSA import documents by looking at product spec sheet, maintaining records, sorting and distributing incoming/outgoing mail and filing. This position is entry-level and works under general supervision. Because this role provides general office support, duties vary from day to day. The core of the job is to gather food safety documentations from suppliers and manufacturers, enter data, file documents; and organize documents and data accordingly.
Essential Job Functions:
- Supporting team members and branch staff and acting as an assistant on various tasks.
- Organizing delivery and receiving related documents and maintaining logs to meet CFIA and any other food import related regulations in Canada.
- Ensuring compliance with Canadian food laws and ordinances by reviewing and advising on product display (labels, ingredient lists), raw materials, allergens, nutritional analysis, and health claims.
- Creating and revising labels for all products.
- Maintaining and requesting updates for product documentation, working with suppliers based on CFIA regulations, etc.
- Participating in CFIA inspection (e.g., sampling, disposing, etc.).
- Conducting research on HS code determination for individual imported items.
- Performing other related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- College education and/or equivalent experience.
- 1-2 years of work experience in an office environment.
- Fluent in English.
- Japanese language proficiency is considered an asset.
- Experience with MS Office- Excel, Outlook, and Word.
- Work onsite at our Aurora office for approximately 20 to 24 hours per week.
