The District of Sicamous Development Corporation (DOSDC) is the community's economic development and destination management organization, dedicated to fostering a vibrant, resilient and prosperous community. Through leadership in economic development, destination development and tourism, DOSDC works collaboratively with businesses, community partners and all levels of government to strengthen the local economy and position Sicamous as a premier four-season destination to live, work, invest and visit.
POSITION OVERVIEW
Reporting directly to the District of Sicamous Development Corporation (DOSDC) Board of Directors, the Executive Director provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for the Corporation. This role is responsible for advancing the Board's strategic priorities through leadership in economic development, destination development, tourism, marketing and investment attraction while ensuring the effective management of the Corporation's operations, financial resources and staff.
As the senior administrative leader of DOSDC, the Executive Director works collaboratively with the Board, the District of Sicamous, businesses, Indigenous communities, community organizations and government partners to build strategic relationships, identify new opportunities and deliver initiatives that strengthen the local economy and contribute to the long-term prosperity of Sicamous.
QUALIFICATIONS & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide strategic leadership and oversee the day-to-day operations of the District of Sicamous Development
- Corporation.
- Lead initiatives that support economic development, destination development, tourism and investment attraction.
- Build collaborative relationships with businesses, community partners, Indigenous communities and all levels of government.
- Develop and implement strategic plans, annual work programs, organizational policies and budgets.
- Lead the Corporation's marketing, communications and Explore Sicamous initiatives.
- Supervise staff and oversee consultants, contractors and funded projects.
- Secure and administer grant funding while ensuring sound financial stewardship and organizational accountability.
- Represent DOSDC at Board meetings, community events and regional, provincial and industry forums.
- Possess post-secondary education in Business Administration, Economic Development, Tourism, Marketing, Public Administration or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Bring a minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible leadership experience in economic development, tourism, municipal government, community development or a related field.
- Demonstrate experience working with Boards of Directors, managing budgets, leading strategic initiatives and building collaborative partnerships.
- Exhibit exceptional leadership, communication, organizational and relationship-building skills.
