We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic Assistant Director to join our team. The ideal candidate will support the overall management and operation of our organization, ensuring that programs run smoothly and objectives are met. The Assistant Director will collaborate closely with senior management to implement strategic initiatives, oversee daily activities, and foster a positive environment for staff and participants alike.
Responsibilities
- Support the Director in daily centre operations, including scheduling and staff coordination
- Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to educators
- Ensure compliance with Alberta childcare licensing regulations, policies, and safety standards
- Maintain knowledge of and support implementation of Alberta’s childcare frameworks and best practices
- Step into ratio and support classrooms as needed
- Assist with staff onboarding, training, and performance support
- Communicate professionally with families and support positive relationships
- Help maintain a positive, collaborative team environment
- Assist with administrative duties such as documentation and reporting
Qualifications & Experience
- Early Childhood Educator certification (Level 2 or 3 required; Level 3 strongly preferred)
- Proven experience in a licensed childcare setting, with leadership or supervisory experience preferred
- Strong working knowledge of Alberta childcare licensing regulations and frameworks
- Demonstrated ability to support compliance, documentation, and program standards
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced environment
- Passion for early childhood education and team leadership
