We are seeking a skilled, detail-oriented Motor & Pump Repair Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic knowledge, along with hands-on experience diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of pumps, motors, and related equipment.
This role is critical to maintaining the reliability and efficiency of our clients’ systems while upholding the high service standards and reputation of Seymour-Smith Electric.
Purpose of Position
To ensure customer satisfaction through high-quality repair work completed in a cost-effective, efficient, and timely manner—while maintaining the reputation of Seymour-Smith Electric as the trusted provider for electro-mechanical repairs.
Key Responsibilities
- Thoroughly review work orders, paying close attention to customer concerns and reported issues
- Diagnose and troubleshoot pump systems using schematics, manuals, and diagnostic tools
- Perform evaluations, repairs, and maintenance on motors and pumps
- Carry out mechanical repairs including seals, bearings, impellers, and related components
- Perform electrical testing, troubleshooting, and repairs on motors and control panels
- Use hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment safely and effectively
- Accurately record labor time, materials used, and repair details on work orders
- Identify required parts and follow proper parts identification procedures
- Communicate clearly with customers regarding repairs and recommended solutions
- Assist other technicians as needed to ensure timely completion of work
- Perform equipment pick-ups and deliveries as required
- Participate in training programs and technical development opportunities
- Adhere to all workplace safety standards and industry regulations
Qualifications & Skills
- Proven experience working with mechanical systems and rotating equipment
- Strong electrical background, including wiring, schematic reading, and motor diagnostics
- Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and schematics
- Experience using hand tools, power tools, and lifting equipment safely
- Solid understanding of pumps, motors, and electro-mechanical systems
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical information clearly
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Sales aptitude to recommend additional services or parts when appropriate
- Manual machining experience is considered an asset

- 442A (Industrial Electrical)
- 443A (Industrial Mechanic / Millwright)
