The Operations Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of our boutique liquor store, ensuring an exceptional customer experience while maintaining efficient store operations. This role provides hands-on leadership to the retail team, oversees inventory accuracy and replenishment, manages scheduling, coordinates vendor orders, and fosters a positive, high-performing workplace culture.
Rocky Mountain Wines has been a customer service focused boutique liquor store in operations for 9 years. We pride ourselves on creating a welcoming, fun, and positive shopping experience for our guests. We are looking for a new leader to join our team!
Key Responsibilities
Store Operations
- Oversee the daily operation of the store, ensuring a clean, organized, safe, and welcoming environment.
- Ensure consistent execution of company policies, procedures, and operational standards.
- Monitor store performance and proactively identify opportunities to improve efficiency.
- Resolve operational issues quickly while maintaining excellent customer service.
Team Leadership
- Lead, coach, and support store staff to deliver exceptional customer service.
- Train new employees on store procedures, product knowledge, compliance requirements, and customer service standards.
- Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and performance development.
- Foster a positive, respectful, and accountable team culture.
- Assist with employee performance management in partnership with ownership.
Scheduling & Staffing
- Prepare and manage employee schedules to meet business needs while controlling labour costs.
- Coordinate shift coverage and respond to staffing needs.
- Ensure adequate staffing during peak business periods.
Inventory Management
- Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure strong inventory control practices.
- Conduct regular inventory counts, cycle counts, and investigate discrepancies.
- Monitor stock levels and identify replenishment requirements.
- Ensure merchandise is properly received, stored, displayed, and rotated.
- Invoicing accounts at proper pricing and weekly invoice management.
Vendor Ordering
- Place orders with approved vendors based on established purchasing plans and inventory requirements.
- Coordinate deliveries and verify incoming shipments for accuracy.
- Maintain positive working relationships with suppliers and vendor representatives.
- Communicate inventory concerns and product availability issues to ownership.
Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all applicable liquor regulations, health and safety standards, and company policies.
- Maintain accurate operational records and required documentation.
- Promote responsible alcohol retailing practices.
Qualifications
- Previous retail management experience, preferably in liquor, specialty retail, or hospitality.
- Strong leadership, coaching, and team development skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Experience with inventory management and retail operations.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with point-of-sale systems and inventory management software.
- Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of liquor products is considered an asset. WSET level 2 preferred.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs (23 kg).
- Ability to bend, reach, and move inventory safely.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.

Pay: $50,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
