Dinosaur Gas Co-op Ltd. is a member-owned natural gas utility that has proudly served rural homes, farms, and businesses throughout the County of Newell since 1973.
We are seeking an energetic, motivated, and hands-on General Manager to lead our organization. This unique leadership role combines executive management with utility operations, construction project management, financial administration, regulatory compliance, and community engagement.
Unlike many management positions, this is not solely an office-based role. The successful candidate will work closely with a small, dedicated team and be equally comfortable in the boardroom, the office, and the field.

What You'll Do
As General Manager, you will be responsible for the overall leadership and successful operation of Dinosaur Gas Co-op Ltd., including:
- Leading and mentoring a small team
- Preparing budgets, Board reports, and strategic recommendations
- Managing utility administration, customer billing, and financial operations
- Administering GasManager software and Itron Automated Meter Reading (AMR) systems
- Completing utility billing, bank reconciliations, accounts payable, and property ownership transfers
- Planning and supervising natural gas construction projects
- Working with members, landowners, engineers, contractors, and regulators
- Coordinating Alberta One Call notifications, utility crossings, and regulatory approvals
- Ensuring compliance with AER, CSA, Rural Utilities, Occupational Health & Safety, and Federation of Alberta Gas Co-ops requirements
- Supporting emergency response, utility operations, and long-term infrastructure planning
We're Looking For Someone Who Has
- Leadership or management experience within a natural gas utility, pipeline, oil & gas, municipal utility, construction, or related industry
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Experience with budgeting, project management, and customer service
- Mechanical aptitude and the ability to lead both office and field operations
- Experience with utility billing, bookkeeping, or financial administration is considered an asset
- Experience using GasManager, Itron AMR systems, or similar utility software is considered an asset
Preferred Qualifications
- Gas Utility Operator Certification (preferred)
- Technical, engineering technology, business, or management education
- Valid Alberta Driver's Licence (Class 5 minimum; Class 3 considered an asset)
- Ground Disturbance Level II
- First Aid/CPR
- H₂S Alive
- TDG
- WHMIS
- Fusion Certification (asset)
Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
