Class 1A Driver – Position Description
Position Overview
The Class 1A Driver is responsible for the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of commercial vehicles for propane, fertilizer, equipment, and general freight. This role requires strong situational awareness, mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to safety and customer service.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Transportation & Hauling
- · Operate tractor‑trailers, Super B units, end dumps, tankers, or specialty trailers, flat decks and pressure vessels as required.
- · Transport general freight, fertilizer, equipment, or pressure vessel (propane) to various mine site locations in Northern Saskatchewan.
- · Maintain proper weight distribution and ensure loads meet legal and customer requirements.
Equipment Care & Maintenance
- · Conduct daily pre‑trip, enroute, and post‑trip inspections.
- · Identify mechanical issues and report or assist with basic troubleshooting.
- · Keep trucks and trailers clean, organized, and in safe operating condition.
Compliance & Documentation
- · Follow all provincial and federal transportation regulations, including hours of service.
- · Complete logbooks, bills of lading, scale tickets, and delivery records accurately.
- · Adhere to company safety policies, PPE requirements, and cargo securement standards.
Customer & Team Interaction
- · Communicate professionally with dispatch, and customers.
- · Represent the company with a positive, respectful attitude.
Qualifications Required
- Valid Class 1A driver’s licence.
- Clean driver’s abstract.
- Experience operating tractor‑trailers, pressure vessels or Super B configurations.
- Strong understanding of safe driving practices.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Qualifications Preferred
- Previous driving experience
- Mechanical aptitude for minor repairs and diagnostics.
- Experience with electronic logbooks or fleet management systems.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to climb ladders, and operate tarps
- Capable of lifting 50+ lbs as needed.
- Comfortable sitting for extended periods while driving.
