We're looking for an experienced Accountant to join our Finance Team on a 6-month full-time contract to provide maternity leave coverage. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated accounting professional who enjoys working independently in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
About the Role
Reporting to the Financial Controller, you'll be responsible for a variety of full-cycle accounting duties while supporting the day-to-day financial operations of our growing organization.
This is a fully remote position, though hybrid or on-site work arrangements are available if necessary.
What You'll Do
- Complete full-cycle accounting, including month-end and year-end processes
- Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, trial balances, and financial statements
- Process payroll, including benefit and vacation reconciliations
- Prepare payroll journal entries
- Assist with weekly cash flow reporting and budget preparation
- Review invoices, payment batches, and expense coding
- Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies, vendor inquiries, and account issues
- Prepare GST, PST, WCB, EHT, and other statutory filings
- Support financial reporting and maintain accounting schedules, including CapEx
- Assist with process improvements and accounting system enhancements
- Support and provide guidance to junior members of the Finance Team
- Collaborate with store management and internal departments across multiple locations
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who has:
- An Accounting Diploma or equivalent education
- 2–3 years of experience in a full-cycle accounting role
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting
- Excellent organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
- The ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines independently
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
- Experience with Sage Accounting and/or Payworks Payroll is considered an asset
- Progress toward a CPA designation is considered an asset
