JOB OPPORTUNITY – SENIOR FINANCIAL ACCOUNTANT
Description
Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Senior Financial Accountant plays a key role within the finance function of an investment dealer, overseeing financial reporting, regulatory filings, and accounting policy execution. This role ensures accurate, timely, and compliant financial information in accordance with applicable securities regulatory requirements and accounting standards.

Prepare the monthly and annual regulatory reports for a CIRO and FINRA registered dealer

Responsible for the weekly preparation of management reporting and regulatory capital calculations

Preparation of monthly indirect tax filings

Prepare audit schedules and support the annual external audit and other regulatory audits as required, acting as a key point of contact for external auditor field work inquiries

Support treasury activities, including cash monitoring and cash management activities

Prepare and maintain revenue and commission reporting for trading and private client teams

Process new issue files, including calculation, coordination, and tracking of syndicate and dealer payments

Conduct advanced variance analysis, investigating fluctuations and identifying key drivers impacting financial performance, with actionable recommendations

Use data analytic tools to streamline processes, build management dashboards, and improve day-to-day efficiency
Qualifications

CPA designation is required
-
5-7 years of progressive experience in an accounting role. Experience within a financial services firm or broker-dealer environment would be considered an asset

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products with advanced Excel skills and Power BI experience

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and deliver high-quality results in a fast-paced deadline-oriented environment

Comfortable learning new systems and technologies
