We are seeking a Facilities Cleaning Technician to help maintain the cleanliness and appearance of our seven self-storage locations throughout the Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM). This role is primarily responsible for cleaning and facility presentation, while assisting with light maintenance and seasonal property upkeep as required.
Responsibilities
- Perform daily and scheduled cleaning of facility interiors, including hallways, storage buildings, offices, washrooms, stairwells, and common areas.
- Maintain exterior areas by removing litter, sweeping sidewalks, cleaning entrances, and ensuring properties remain presentable.
- Monitor facilities for cleanliness, safety hazards, and maintenance concerns, reporting issues as needed.
- Complete light maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs, changing batteries, tightening hardware, touching up paint, and other basic repairs.
- Assist with seasonal property maintenance including snow removal, salting walkways, lawn care, and general landscaping.
- Safely operate and maintain cleaning equipment and ensure cleaning supplies are stocked and stored properly.
- Support the Facilities team with special cleaning projects and property improvements.
- Maintain a professional image while working at all Metro Self Storage locations.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
Skills
- 1+ year of janitorial, custodial, housekeeping, or facility cleaning experience preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining clean, organized spaces.
- Ability to work independently and manage daily priorities.
- Basic maintenance or handyman skills considered an asset.
- Experience with lawn care and snow removal considered an asset.
- Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform repetitive bending, lifting, walking, and standing.
- Valid Class 5 driver's licence with a clean driver's abstract.
- Reliable, dependable, and customer-focused.
Pay: $17.50-$19.00 per hour
