SPECIALIST, SPORT STRATEGY & PERFORMANCE INTEGRATION
Headquartered in Montréal and Toronto, the Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) is a national, private, not ‑ for ‑ profit organization committed to high ‑ performance sport excellence. We are the largest private supporter of high ‑ performance sport in Canada and are responsible for all aspects of Canada’s involvement in the Olympic Movement, including participation in the Olympic and Pan American Games.
Reporting to the Manager, Sport Strategy & Performance Integration (SSPI), the Specialist, SSPI supports the delivery of the Canadian Olympic Committee’s Games strategy through integrated planning, coordination, and readiness activities. The role contributes to Games-time operations, National Sport Organization (NSO) engagement, and the development and maintenance of planning tools that support effective preparation and execution at Olympic and Pan American Games.
Working within a matrixed Games environment, the Specialist plays a key role in coordinating inputs across Functional Areas (FAs) and in designing, implementing, and maintaining practical information-sharing and tracking approaches to ensure NSOs and Team Leaders have timely access to the information they need to support Games planning.
LOCATION
This position will be located in the COC office in Montréal, QC, at 500 René-Lévesque Boulevard West. The COC offers a hybrid work model that allows for up to two (2) remote days per week.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND PRIORITIES
NSO Engagement & Information Sharing
- Lead the design of a Team Leader/High Performance Director–centric information-sharing model, incorporating learnings from Games debriefs and stakeholder consultations. The model should include:
- A “Months Ahead”-type tool: collaborate with the Project Management Office (PMO) and NSO Services to redesign a tool that compiles links to COC communications and outlines deliverables, key dates, and other key information.
- Coordinate Team Leader–facing information sharing, including program launch timelines, Functional Area deadlines, and sport technical information. Identify efficiencies to ensure deliverables are clear and attainable for Team Leaders in the lead-up to Games. Ensure timelines align with internal and external stakeholder schedules, as well as NSO decision points.
- Manage COC–NSO and COC–OTP shared drives, including folder setup, content uploads, and access management.
- Maintain NSO contact lists proactively.
- Optimize the project launch process from a Team Leader/HPD perspective.
- Execute the NSO information-sharing strategy on a day-to-day basis.
- Manage and update the Team Leader manual.
- Support the collection and submission of performance-related questions to Organizing Committees (OCOGs).
- With guidance from the Manager, SSPI, identify, prepare, and distribute sport technical and performance-related information as required (e.g., virtual venue visits).
Planning Tools & Transfer of Knowledge Support
- Support the development, maintenance, and ongoing optimization of Games planning tools used by NSOs, Team Leaders, and HPAs.
- Ensure tools reflect NSO-specific requirements, timelines, and decision points.
- Lead the optimization of dashboards:
- Incorporate feedback from stakeholders to improve functionality.
- Create, populate, and maintain dashboards and the dashboard directory for all major Games.
- Launch dashboards to NSOs according to timelines set by the Games Management Team.
- Develop training materials for users, including FA Leads, HPAs, and NSO Team Leaders.
- Lead and optimize the Team Leader checklist process.
- Support the capture and organization of sport-specific requirements and nuances to enable continuous improvement and knowledge transfer across Functional Areas.
Performance Science Services (PSS)
(Performance Technology & Performance Equipment)
- Lead the planning, development, and implementation of at-Games performance technology, equipment, and recovery strategies, frameworks, and services.
- Manage budget allocation and ensure regular touchpoints with NSOs for science services needs assessments (intake).
- Supervise the Performance Equipment Consultant and Performance Technology Manager; share Games-specific information that impacts planning.
- Manage project priorities, strategies, legal considerations, budgets, resources, partner collaborations, and information-sharing processes.
- Share relevant information with OTP/CPC Health & Science Advisors.
Ensure HPAs are informed of the COC servicing plan and any associated challenges related to NSO workflows.

Performance technology (PT)
- In collaboration with the PT Manager, develop a comprehensive understanding of NSOs’ Daily Training Environment protocols and tools, and assess their compatibility with the Games environment and its limitations (OBS/IOC).
- Supervise the selection and training of Performance Analysts (both on-site and remote), including their job descriptions, agreements, and Games-time status (accreditation, logistics, schedules).
Liaise with Functional Areas in developing the PT plan, including COC IT, Village/Out-of-Village operations, Cargo, and Health & Wellness (H&W) initiatives.

Performance equipment (PE)
- Through NSO engagement and collaboration with the Performance Equipment Consultant, understand in-Village performance needs, as well as out-of-Village and venue requirements.
- In collaboration with Games and Village leads, assess Out-of-Village sport and business team needs and recommend solutions to support wellness and daily performance within budget.
Liaise with Functional Areas in developing the PE plan, including Games Leadership, Village/Out-of-Village operations, Cargo, and Health & Wellness initiatives.

COC Training Centres
- In collaboration with the Finance Coordinator, ensure effective day-to-day management of COC-identified training centres (tracking, bookings, issue escalation).
- Maintain training centre tracking documents.
- Support booking coordination and information flow.
- Develop and update support materials, such as presentations, workflows, guidelines, and booking procedures.
In collaboration with the Manager, SSPI, manage the project plan and execution for pre-Games training camps, including identifying and delivering on NSO requirements during the Games period.

Performance Consultation
- Support the creation and delivery of performance readiness sessions for Mission Team and Team Leaders at Preparation Seminars, Olympic Labs, and Leads meetings.
- Support the collection and dissemination of NSO-specific information.
Support the collection of Team Leader checklist inputs.

Event & Games Planning Support
- Lead logistics for the Team Leader Preparation Seminar and other events as required.
- Support logistics and materials preparation for orientation sessions delivered by Athlete Relations.
- Support preparation and delivery of arrival and post-competition briefings.
- Support planning and delivery of performance readiness sessions at Preparation Seminars, Olympic Labs, and Leads meetings.
HPA Integration
- Coordinate COC/Own the Podium (OTP) communications and meetings.
- Maintain the OTP–HPA directory.
- Update COC shared calendars with OTP key dates.
- Support onboarding logistics and information sharing for HPAs and HPDs new to the Games environment.
At-Games Role
- Cluster/Admin Support
- Lead the design and execution of Team Leader at-Games communication strategies (e.g., TL hotsheets and WhatsApp communities).
QUALIFICATIONS AND CRITICAL SKILLS
Education and Experience
- University Degree/College Degree
- 3-5 years of relevant experience
Competencies & skills
- Strong organizational and coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams and deadlines
- Ability to synthesize complex, high-volume information into clear, structured, and actionable outputs
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to build positive working relationships and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders
- Comfortable working in a matrixed, fast-paced, and evolving Games environment
- Experience supporting planning tools, tracking systems, or shared resources in complex operational settings
- Strong proficiency with common office and collaboration tools (e.g., Microsoft suite, sharepoint, Google Sheets, project management software)
- Proactive, detail-oriented, and solutions-focused approach
- Understanding of high-performance sport environments and familiarity with NSOs and the Games environment is an asset
- Bilingualism is a strong asset
- Experience in change management, including organizational or system-related change (e.g., software or IT implementations)
- Experience developing or enhancing information-sharing processes and platforms
- In-depth understanding of the Canadian sport landscape, including major and minor Games
Commitment
- Availability to travel for Games and related events, including site visits and OPS events
COMPENSATION
The expected salary range for this role is $55,800 to $76,780 per year. The base pay within this range is based on a number of factors, including relevant experience, skills, qualifications, internal pay equity, and market benchmarks.
