Our employer partner is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Shipping & Receiving Clerk to join their team in Markham. This position is responsible for receiving incoming materials, order picking, shipping coordination, inventory control, and supporting daily warehouse and logistics operations. The successful candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced warehouse environment while maintaining high standards for safety, quality, and accuracy.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, inspect, and verify incoming shipments against purchase orders and packing slips, reporting any discrepancies or damages.
- Pick, pack, label, and prepare customer orders accurately for shipment.
- Palletize finished goods, wrap skids securely, and prepare shipments according to Bills of Lading and shipping standards.
- Scan, sample, and store incoming ingredients in designated warehouse locations.
- Coordinate shipping activities, including shipment scheduling, carrier communication, and shipment tracking.
- Assist the Logistics Coordinator with transportation coordination, shipment follow-ups, and resolving shipping-related issues.
- Perform inventory counts, maintain inventory records, and report stock discrepancies.
- Operate a counterbalance forklift safely to move materials throughout the warehouse.
- Use RF scanners and basic computer systems to process shipping and receiving transactions.
- Maintain accurate documentation, including shipping records, Bills of Lading, and inventory logs.
- Follow Safe Quality Food (SQF) standards and company health and safety procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and audit-ready warehouse environment.
- Safely lift and move materials weighing up to approximately 55 lbs.
- Perform other warehouse and shipping duties as assigned.
Qualifications / Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Counterbalance Forklift Licence is required.
- Minimum 1–2 years of full-time Shipping & Receiving experience.
- Previous forklift operating experience.
- Experience using RF scanners and basic computer systems.
- Experience with Oracle or other ERP systems is considered an asset.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Good mathematical skills, including metric and imperial weight conversions (kg/lbs).
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks and manual lifting of up to 55 lbs.
- Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and environmental practices.
- Reliable with strong communication and teamwork skills.
