Job Summary
Trail Home Hardware is seeking a friendly, reliable, and customer-focused Part-Time Cashier to join our team. As one of the first and last points of contact for our customers, you will play an important role in creating a positive shopping experience while ensuring transactions are handled accurately and efficiently.
What You'll Do
- Greet customers and provide friendly, professional service
- Operate the point-of-sale system, including cash, debit, credit, and gift card transactions
- Process returns and exchanges in accordance with store procedures
- Balance cash and transaction records accurately
- Answer incoming calls and assist with customer inquiries
- Contact customers when special orders arrive
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming checkout area
- Assist with loss prevention by following established policies and procedures
- Support front-end operations and administrative tasks when required
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned
What We're Looking For
- Previous cashier, retail, or customer service experience is an asset
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Comfortable handling cash and using computer-based POS systems
- Positive attitude with a focus on customer service
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Willingness to learn and support different areas of the store
- Ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment
Availability Requirements
- Part-time hours (approximately 15–24 hours per week)
- Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and statutory holidays
- Reliable attendance is essential
- Additional hours may be available during peak seasons and vacation coverage
