Established in 1964, the Markland Wood Golf Club has been taking care of its members for over 60 years. Located on Bloor just west of the 427, membership at our club provides a golf experience of the highest caliber featuring a warm atmosphere, welcoming ambiance and a service level to match the glorious conditions that the members love. We are truly one of the most enjoyable walks in the city.
Markland Wood Golf Club is seeking an experienced and service-focused Interim Dining Room Manager to lead the daily operations of the Great Oak Lounge, Creekside Patio, and Outdoor Beverage Services during a temporary leave period.
This role is responsible for delivering an exceptional member dining experience while overseeing front-of-house operations, team leadership, scheduling, beverage management, and operational excellence. The successful candidate will be a visible presence on the floor, fostering strong relationships with members and leading a high-performing service team.
This interim opportunity may evolve into a full-time, year-round management position.
Key Responsibilities
Member Experience & Service Excellence
- Deliver an exceptional dining experience that reflects the Club's service standards.
- Maintain a visible leadership presence in all dining venues.
- Engage with members regularly and proactively gather feedback.
- Resolve member concerns promptly and professionally.
- Ensure consistent execution of food and beverage service standards.
Operations Management
- Oversee the daily operation of:
- Great Oak Lounge
- Creekside Patio
- Outdoor Beverage Stations
- Monitor service flow, staffing levels, and operational efficiency.
- Manage reservations and table allocations through the JAM reservation system.
- Ensure compliance with Club policies, health and safety regulations, and service standards.
- Participate in and oversee Club events impacting dining operations.
Team Leadership
- Recruit, onboard, train, coach, and develop front-of-house team members.
- Create and manage staff schedules to support operational requirements.
- Provide ongoing performance feedback and conduct performance evaluations.
- Foster a positive, respectful, and accountable workplace culture.
- Address employee concerns and administer corrective action when required.
Beverage Program Management
- Manage beverage purchasing, inventory control, receiving, storage, and reconciliation.
- Complete monthly beverage inventory counts and reporting.
- Monitor beverage costs and identify opportunities to improve profitability.
- Maintain strong supplier relationships and evaluate product and pricing opportunities.
Financial & Administrative Responsibilities
- Support departmental budget objectives and cost controls.
- Review invoices and ensure purchasing accuracy.
- Assist with reporting, forecasting, and operational planning.
- Utilize Jonas/JAM POS systems for reservations, reporting, and basic menu programming.
Qualifications
Required Experience
- 3–5 years of progressive leadership experience in hospitality, private clubs, hotels, restaurants, or comparable food and beverage environments.
- Proven experience leading front-of-house teams and delivering exceptional guest service.
- Experience with beverage inventory management and cost controls.
Preferred Qualifications
- Private Club experience preferred.
- Post-secondary education in Hospitality Management, Business, or a related field is an asset.
- Experience with Jonas and/or JAM systems is considered an asset.

Physical Requirements

- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to move throughout all service and dining areas.
- Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 20 lbs (9 kg).
- Ability to bend, reach, and perform general hospitality-related duties.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and Club events as required.
Working Conditions
- Primarily evening-based schedule.
- Fast-paced hospitality environment with frequent member interaction.
- Attendance at Club functions and special events is required.
- Regular and reliable attendance is essential to the success of this role.
Pay: $80,000.00 per year
