Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Heavy Duty Truck & Trailer Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical knowledge and hands-on experience in maintaining and repairing trailers and heavy-duty trucks. This role involves working with various tools and heavy equipment to ensure all units are safe, reliable, and in optimal working condition.
Duties
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on heavy-duty trucks, trailers, and related equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using schematics, diagnostic tools, and software.
- Troubleshoot and repair or replace defective parts and systems including engines, transmissions, suspensions, brakes, and drivetrains.
- Complete welding and fabrication tasks when needed to maintain structural integrity.
- Carry out CVIP (Commercial Vehicle Inspection Program) inspections and prepare related reports.
- Operate and maintain shop tools and equipment like hoists, air tools, diagnostic scanners.
- Perform road tests or run diagnostic checks after repairs to ensure vehicles are fixed properly.
- Maintain a clean and safe workspace by following all health and safety procedures.
- Work collaboratively with other technicians and service advisors to ensure timely and efficient service.
Job Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience working on heavy-duty trucks, trailers, and related equipment (required).
- Strong mechanical knowledge and ability to read and follow technical manuals, diagrams, and schematics.
- Skilled in diagnosing and repairing issues with brakes, suspension, engine, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Familiarity with using shop software (Fullbay experience is a plus).
- Comfortable operating tools and machinery safely and efficiently.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Must follow all safety guidelines and wear protective equipment when required.
- Willing to participate in ongoing training and skills development.
