Staff Plus is hiring a Batching Operator for our client’s food manufacturing facility. In this role, you will prepare large-scale batches of sauces, condiments, and salad dressings by measuring ingredients, operating HMI-controlled batching equipment, monitoring cooking processes, and completing required food safety and quality checks.
This opportunity is well suited to someone with experience in food production, industrial cooking, batching, mixing, or food preparation who is comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Pay: $21.50 per hour
Shift: Afternoon Shift, 3:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.
What You’ll Do
- Review production schedules and report to the assigned batching station.
- Complete pre-start equipment inspections and required safety checks.
- Connect, disconnect, and clean hoses to prepare batching equipment for production.
- Program and operate batching machinery using HMI control systems.
- Verify ingredient names, quantities, and inputs before starting each batch.
- Coordinate with Material Handlers and Spice Preparers to obtain required raw materials and spices.
- Confirm ingredient quantities using basic calculations or a calculator.
- Prepare and cook sauces, condiments, and salad dressings according to production requirements.
- Monitor batches for quality and complete required Critical Control Point (CCP) checks.
- Transfer finished products to storage tanks or production lines.
- Reset equipment efficiently between batches.
- Complete cleaning-in-place (CIP) procedures during product changeovers.
- Maintain production targets while following all food safety, quality, and workplace safety procedures.
- Keep the batching area clean, organized, and ready for production.
- Communicate with team members regarding ingredients, equipment, and production requirements.
- Operate multiple batching stations and assist other operators when required.
What You’ll Need
- At least 6 months of experience in a food manufacturing or food production environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to understand and operate HMI-controlled production equipment.
- Basic math skills to verify ingredient quantities and production measurements.
- Previous cooking, food preparation, batching, or mixing experience is preferred.
- Lift truck operating experience is an asset.
- Willingness to learn new equipment, processes, and production procedures.
- Ability to work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Physical and Work Environment Requirements
- Able to lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Able to stand and remain active for extended periods.
- Comfortable working on elevated platforms up to 15 feet.
- Able to work in an environment with high noise levels; hearing protection is provided.
- Comfortable working around varying temperatures, humidity, and heat from cooking processes.
- Able to work around food allergens, dust, and strong food aromas.
