We are searching for a Nike Lacrosse Camp Coach to coach lacrosse players during our Summer Camp (4 Weeks). The successful candidate will be responsible for coaching lacrosse players to maximize their performance while providing feedback on their technical skills, athletic abilities, and mental game. You will be required to develop and follow a structured schedule of activities and drills throughout the Summer Camp. Excellent communication skills, strong interpersonal relationships, and a commitment to developing young lacrosse athletes are key requirements for this position.
This position may take place at the Woodbridge Sports Dome.
Job Description
1. Instruction and Coaching
- Teach fundamental lacrosse skills.
- Provide instruction tailored to various skill levels, from beginner to advanced players.
- Organize drills and activities to improve technique, strategy, and game understanding.
- Offer constructive feedback to campers to help them improve their skills.
2. Program Development
- Collaborate with camp directors and fellow instructors to develop engaging and age-appropriate programs.
- Create lesson plans and activity schedules that align with camp objectives and curriculum standards.
- Continuously assess and adjust the program to meet the needs and interests of campers.
3. Safety and Supervision
- Ensure the safety of campers during all lacrosse activities, adhering to established safety protocols.
- Supervise campers during practice sessions, games, and recreational periods to maintain a safe and positive environment.
4. Mentorship and Leadership
- Serve as a positive role model for campers, demonstrating sportsmanship, teamwork, and respect.
- Foster a supportive and inclusive atmosphere where campers feel encouraged to challenge themselves and improve.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to campers interested in pursuing lacrosse beyond the camp setting.
5. Communication and Collaboration
- Communicate effectively with campers, parents, and fellow staff members regarding schedules, expectations, and camper progress.
- Collaborate with other camp staff to coordinate multi-disciplinary activities and ensure a well-rounded camp experience.
6. Equipment Management
- Must be able to bring the lacrosse equipment required for coaching during camp.
Qualifications
- Prior experience playing and/or coaching lacrosse, preferably at the collegiate level.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with campers of diverse ages and backgrounds.
- Current certification in CPR and First Aid (or willingness to obtain certification prior to the start of camp).
- Passion for working with youth and fostering their personal growth through sports.
Responsibilities
- Teach players how to practice effectively.
- Coach a group of 10–20 lacrosse players.
- Plan and lead practices.
- Coach in games and scrimmages.
- Evaluate players' skills and areas for improvement.
- Stay current with research and coaching methods to help improve players' skills.
- Develop offensive, defensive, and transition strategies for individual players and teams.
- Identify the strengths of each player.
- Create a detailed weekly practice plan.
- Create a daily camp schedule from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
