Dock Hand - Part Time Position
We are looking for an enthusiastic and dependable Weekend Part-Time Dock Hand to join our marina team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys working outdoors, interacting with guests, and being part of a vibrant waterfront environment.
As a Dock Hand, you will help ensure the safe arrival and departure of vessels, maintain marina facilities, assist customers and guests, and support day-to-day marina operations. You will play an important role in creating a safe, welcoming, and enjoyable experience for our visitors while learning valuable maritime skills such as line handling, VHF radio communication, vessel operations, and marina safety procedures.
This position is primarily scheduled for weekends, with occasional additional shifts available during busy seasons and special events.
Duties & Responsibilities
Marina Operations & Guest Services
- Assist with the safe docking and departure of visiting vessels by communicating over VHF radio and securing proper dock lines and fenders.
Facility Maintenance & Safety
- Perform daily dock inspections, including checking dock lines, electrical connections, fenders, and marina infrastructure.
- Ensure docks, walkways, ramps, restrooms, and public areas remain clean, safe, and well-maintained.
- Complete routine maintenance duties including cleaning, groundskeeping, painting, garbage removal, and minor repairs.
- Support the Marina Manager with ongoing care and maintenance of marina facilities.
- Monitor marina security and help prevent unauthorized access to docks and facilities.
Retail & Events Support
- Assist with marina events and activities as required.
- Restock merchandise and assist customers in the marina gift shop.
- Process retail sales and maintain accurate cash and digital payment transactions.
Outdoor Work Environment
- Work comfortably outdoors in various weather conditions, including rain, sun, and wind.
- Maintain a professional and positive attitude during busy weekend operations.
- Welcome marina and inn guests and provide exceptional customer service.
- Register guests and process marina reservations and payments.
- Provide fuel dock services, including directing vessel fueling, processing payments, and following all fuel safety procedures.
- Answer guest questions and serve as a positive ambassador for the marina.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Must be able to work flexible hours including weekends
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow safety protocols
- Operate a variety of equipment such as pressure washers, drills, and other equipment related to the maintenance of docks
- Comfortable using a PC, tablet, and point-of-sale systems
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
- Ability to read and follow safety procedures, manuals, and operating instructions
- Operate equipment pertinent to job duties
- Comfortable receiving direction and feedback with a positive, can-do attitude.
Physical Demands of the Job:
This position requires standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, pushing, and pulling throughout the workday. Employees must be capable of lifting and moving heavy objects, working outdoors in varying weather conditions, and safely operating equipment such as pressure washers and power tools.

Pay: $21.00-$23.00 per hour
