Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and skilled City Driver for Container Work to join our logistics team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for safely transporting containers within the city, ensuring timely deliveries, and maintaining the integrity of freight shipments. This role requires a strong focus on safety, operational efficiency, and adherence to transportation regulations. Candidates with experience in forklift operation, freight handling, and heavy equipment operation will find this position aligns well with their skills.
Duties
- Safely operate commercial vehicles to transport containers within designated city routes
- Load and unload freight using forklifts and other heavy equipment as needed
- Conduct routine inspections of vehicles and equipment to ensure safety standards are met
- Assist with container handling, securing loads, and ensuring proper documentation for shipments
- Perform basic automotive repairs or troubleshooting when necessary to maintain vehicle functionality
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, pickups, and vehicle maintenance logs
- Follow all traffic laws, safety protocols, and company policies during daily operations
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and warehouse staff to coordinate schedules and resolve issues promptly
Requirements
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a clean driving record
- Experience operating forklifts, heavy equipment, and managing freight shipments
- Knowledge of automotive repair basics is preferred but not mandatory
- Ability to operate heavy machinery safely and efficiently in a busy city environment
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for documentation purposes
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while adhering to safety standards
- Prior experience in freight handling or container work is advantageous
- Physical ability to lift heavy loads and perform manual tasks as required
- Must pass background checks and comply with all safety regulations
