Coast Mountain College (CMTN), Terrace campus, invites applications for a full-time term Human Resources Advisor commencing no later than October 12, 2026 and ending April 28, 2028. The salary for this position is $98,891 annually plus a comprehensive benefits plan.

Duties: Reporting to the Manager of Human Resources and working closely with the Human Resources and Payroll staff, the Human Resources Advisor provides advice and guidance as an HR generalist related to labour relations, recruitment and retention, employee well-being, benefits and leave management, disability case management, job descriptions, classifications, learning and professional development. The HRA is an advocate for healthy employer-employee relations, fostering a proactive, problem-solving approach to relationships and ensuring that priorities and issues are effectively supported and effectively concluded.
Key components of the role include, but are not limited to:

Works collaboratively with team members who deliver HR/LR/PR services, ensuring the flow of information across the team

Leads the recruitment process, and participates on selection committees, designs and recommends evaluation tools such as tests and interview questions. May provide training, advice or resources to selection panels and advise and review selection staffing actions

Provides coaching and advice on the disciplinary process, formulating disciplinary communication, advice on disciplinary meetings, and involvement in disciplinary meetings when required

Recommends approaches and courses of action to achieve problem/conflict resolution and prevention

Provides advice and guidance on job description review process. Advises on links between job content, job description and job classification. Provide assistance on job description writing, drafts job descriptions.

Support grievance handling, arbitration preparation and labour-management meetings as required

Reviews and audits human resource practices, identifies anomalies, discrepancies, and makes recommendations for improvement

Represent the department on various committees including professional associations and organizations

Serve as back-up support to other Human Resources positions as required
