Security Personnel
Salary: $45,732 to $53,268 per year

Qualifications:
- A high school diploma or equivalency
- A clean vulnerable sector criminal record check prior to commencement
- A valid Class 5 driver’s license
- Valid ABST certificate
- Standard First Aid Certificate
- Ability to lift up to 40lbs on a regular basis
- Ability to stand and walk for up to 8 hours per shift
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage competing priorities
- Available to work days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays
- A combination of education, training, and experience may be considered

Nature and Scope of Work:
Reporting to the Manager, Security and Facilities services in Slave Lake this position is managed through multiple alternating shifts covering Sunday to Saturday 24 hours a day. During the daytime guards will be required to complete routine physical and virtual checks on campus grounds. After Hours there will be two guards on site one to monitor security systems and keep a log of all events of note, and the other to complete physical patrols and provide access to the College Community.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Security System and Camera Monitoring for all Campuses
- Routine virtual patrols of each campus site via camera system
- Observe and report any suspicious activity found
- Verify campuses are armed and secure via ICT intrusion and card access system.
Access Facilitation
- Provide access to NLC Staff to requested and authorized areas.
- Provide students with access to campus amenities as required.
- Provide student access in the event of locked out or after-hours arrival.
- Confirm locations on site are safe and secure after hours.
Campus Grounds Monitoring
- Complete routine tours of campus grounds, verifying buildings and college community is safe and secure
- Cover off monitoring role during breaks
Responsibility
- Responsible to observe and report any abnormal events to appropriate entities as per Northern Lakes College Emergency Response Plan
- Document all events in security log
Skills/Knowledge
- General Computer skills and Competency
- Ability to work alone in a remote setting
- Understanding of Alberta’s legislation regarding security
