We have an immediate opening for a Field Superintendent based in Halifax, Nova Scotia to work along with our operations teams on various scaled projects within Atlantic Canada.
Under the direction of the Business Development & Operations Manager for mainland NS, the Field Superintendent is responsible for overseeing multiple site operations, scheduling workers and ensuring necessary equipment and materials are accessible.
This position will oversee all staff on assigned sites. The Field Superintendent is a pivotal role in the completion of projects. The Field Superintendent holds the primary responsibility for maintaining the safety of the site and resolving all disputes. They work closely with the owners and will advise them of progress or problems.

As a natural communicator, mentor, and educator, you draw upon your knowledge of industry best practices to ensure the team performs work of the highest quality without sacrificing safety, productivity, or schedule. You have a proven track record of being able to effectively troubleshoot, finding the solution that is most appropriate for the situation.
Responsibilities:
As the Field Superintendent, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Adhere to company Health & Safety Policies and Procedures.
- Enforce the company and / or client safety policies to ensure customer safety expectations.
- Responsible for the overall progress of a site and / or multiple sites in an efficient manner.
- Ensure field projects aligns with the established schedule, progresses smoothly, and on budget.
- Coordinate work and schedule of staff on a site and / or multiple sites
- Coordinate all equipment and materials needed for each project
- Ensure that employees are performing productively.
- Organize the duties and responsibilities of workers
- Ensure the highest quality of workmanship is achieved.
- Communicate with owners and customer of progress and any issues.
- Responsible for reporting all safety incidents including near misses.
- Assist in completion of projects as needed.
- Develop and maintain relationship with customers
- Drive continual process improvements and implement best practices to manage projects efficiently.
- Perform comprehensive quality assurance evaluations to ensure proper application, durability, and aesthetic appeal.
- Address any defects or issues promptly to maintain high standards
- Travel to project sites will be required for this position.
Qualifications / Professional Requirements
- Minimum of ten (10) years of relevant experience in marine and / or unionized industrial coatings industry.
- Minimum of ten (10) years in a progressive leadership / supervisory capacity.
- Post-secondary education (degree / diploma) with a focus in Business is considered an asset.
- Exceptional time management and organizational skills coupled with proven ability to work well in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.
- Professional Coatings designation (NACE) would be considered an asset.
- Ability to read & interpret blueprints and project specifications.
- First Aid / CPR
- Fall Protection
- Confined Space Entry
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations in Atlantic Provinces.

Conditions of Employment
- Office and job site environment – remote work not possible given nature of position.
- Working in various outdoor & indoor environments.
- Working at heights, restricted spaces, and Confined Spaces.
- Wearing Company issued PPE.
- Ability to successfully complete & maintain a security background check.
- Ability to successfully complete site-specific drug & alcohol testing.
- Valid Provincial Driver’s Licence.
- Travel provincially with mileage reimbursement as required.
- A Company Vehicle will be provided after a successful completion of a probationary period.
