Ironman Directional Boring Ltd. is seeking an exprerienced Aerial Telecom Technician to complete pole deficiency work throughout Alberta. Duties include strand installation, cable transfers/removals, guying, hardware replacement, and working from bucket/line trucks. Experience with Telus aerial standards and telecom plant is preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Install, repair, and maintain aerial fiber optic and telecommunications infrastructure.
- Perform strand, cable, and hardware installations on utility poles.
- Install and replace communication equipment and associated components.
- Operate bucket trucks, aerial lifts, and related equipment safely.
- Conduct daily hazard assessments and equipment inspections.
- Read and interpret construction drawings, utility locates, and work orders.
- Maintain accurate records of work completed and materials used.
- Identify and report hazards, incidents, and near misses.
- Work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Maintain a clean and professional worksite.
Requirements:
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment Drug & Alcohol test
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License with a clean driver's abstract.
- Previous telecommunications, utility, or construction experience.
- Ability to work at heights and climb utility poles when required.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety.
- Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and performing demanding outdoor work.
- Ability to travel and work overtime as required.
Preferred:
- Experience installing aerial fiber optic cable.
- Bucket truck or aerial lift operating experience.
- Fall Protection / Working at Heights certification.
- First Aid & CPR Certification.
- Traffic Control training.
- Telecommunications industry experience.
