Litigation Paralegal
Caledonia , Ontario · Commission-based · Hybrid · Full-time
You’d rather be in the hearing room than the file room. Good — so would we.
Marshall Law Group is a Caledonia based litigation practice looking for a licensed paralegal who’s ready to carry their own files, stand up before the courts and tribunals where our clients actually need us, and own the result from first call to final order. This isn’t a photocopy-and-diarize support role — it’s advocacy, with your name on the file. It’s also commission-based, so your income tracks your results, not a fixed salary band: the more you build and win, the more you take home.
Appear and advocate before the Small Claims Court, License Appeal Tribunal (LAT), Landlord and Tenant Board, Provincial Offences Court, and other tribunals within paralegal scope.
Run settlement conferences, motions, and trials/hearings — examine witnesses and make the oral submissions that move the matter.
Negotiate resolutions directly with opposing parties, adjusters, prosecutors, and counsel.
Take real carriage of matters end-to-end: open, strategize, drive, and close.
Draft pleadings, motion materials, conference briefs, written submissions, and correspondence that actually lands.
Do the legal research that backs your position, and keep every limitation period and deadline locked down.
Handle intakes, take instructions, and keep clients genuinely informed — plain language, on time.
Be the steady, credible point of contact people remember long after their matter wraps.
Must-haves
- Licensed paralegal (P1) in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.
- 2+ years running litigation or tribunal files, with real comfort advocating on your feet.
- Strong drafting, sound judgment, and the organizational discipline to carry a busy docket without dropping a date.
- A valid Ontario driver’s licence and reliable transportation for court and tribunal appearances.
Nice-to-haves
- Working knowledge of the Rules of the Small Claims Court, Statutory Accident Benefits Schedule (SABS), and/or Highway Traffic Act matters relevant to our practice.
- Comfort with practice-management and litigation software
- A focus area — Accident benefits / General civil / POA / Landlord–tenant
What you get back
- Uncapped, commission-based income — your earnings track the files you build and win, not a fixed salary band.
- Real court and tribunal time — carriage of your own files, not someone else’s overflow.
- Hybrid flexibility and a predictable Monday-to-Friday schedule.
- Health benefits — Company buy in plan available
- A team that backs you — talk strategy, share precedents, and cover for each other.
- Room to grow as the practice grows.
