Contract / Temporary Position
Straightened Spaces is looking for a reliable, hardworking and professional Part-Time / On-Call Mover to join our growing staging team.
This is a contract/on-call position with hours based on our staging and destaging schedule. It’s a great opportunity for someone looking for flexible work, with the potential for increased hours and a more consistent/full-time position as the company continues to grow.
The Role
Our movers are an important part of our staging operation. You’ll work with our staging team to safely transport, load, unload and install furniture and inventory in homes throughout the GTA.
Responsibilities include:
- Loading and unloading furniture, artwork, rugs, accessories and staging inventory
- Safely moving furniture into and out of client homes
- Packing the truck efficiently and tightly to maximize space and protect inventory
- Wrapping and protecting furniture appropriately
- Assisting with staging installations and destaging projects
- Moving and positioning furniture as directed by the staging team
- Returning inventory to its proper location in our warehouse/storage lockers
- Keeping warehouse and storage areas clean and organized
- Keeping the moving truck clean, organized and ready for the next job
- Following company procedures for handling furniture and inventory
- Helping maintain an efficient, professional job site
- Following all company safety procedures at all times
Driving Responsibilities
Depending on experience and qualifications, responsibilities may also include:
- Driving a 26-foot moving truck
- Completing pre-trip and post-trip vehicle checks
- Ensuring the truck is kept clean and properly organized
- Safely operating the vehicle between our warehouse and staging locations
- Reporting any vehicle concerns or damage immediately
- Following all applicable road and safety requirements

- Understands that scheduled shifts require dependable attendance
- Is physically capable of lifting and moving furniture throughout the day
- Takes pride in protecting furniture, homes and company property
- Can pack a moving truck efficiently and securely
- Is organized and cares about keeping the warehouse and truck in good condition
- Works quickly without sacrificing safety or care
- Takes direction well and communicates effectively
- Works well as part of a team
- Has a positive, professional attitude around clients and coworkers
- Is comfortable with a schedule that varies depending on project volume
- Has reliable transportation to get to scheduled shifts
- Is available for some early mornings and variable finishing times
Experience
Previous moving, delivery, warehouse or furniture-handling experience is preferred but not necessarily required for the right candidate.
Experience driving a 26-foot truck is a strong asset. A valid driver’s licence and clean driving record will be required for candidates responsible for driving company vehicles.
