The team at Rite-X is seeking an experienced Construction Surveyor to join their growing team.
In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for surveying various construction works (buildings, grades for civil work, structures, roadways, etc.) in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and site plans.
Responsiblities:
- Perform precise construction and land surveys using total stations, GPS/GNSS, levels, and other surveying equipment.
- Establish and maintain control points, benchmarks, and reference points.
- Set out building foundations, columns, walls, roads, grades, utilities, and other elements.
- Check and verify elevations, dimensions, alignment, and coordinates against engineered drawings.
- Perform as-built surveys.
- Prepare accurate survey records and reports.
- Review construction drawings and identify discrepancies or potential site issues.
- Maintain accurate and detailed notes, surveying data, drawings, and documentation.
- Operate and maintain surveying instruments, ensuring equipment is properly calibrated and functional.
- Assist with quantity and progress measurements as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Diploma, degree, or relevant qualifications in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience as a Construction Surveyor.
- Hands-on experience with data collection tools such as total stations, GPS/GNSS equipment, digital levels, and data collectors.
- Ability to read engineered and construction drawings/blueprints.
- Strong analytical skills, along with problem-solving, measurement, and mathematical skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Knowledge of applicable surveying software.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to be able to communicate effectively with multiple stakeholders.
- Ability to work in a variety of construction settings and environments (outdoors, inclement weather, etc.).
- Physically fit and able to carry and maneuver surveying equipment.
- OLS certification is considered a highly regarded asset.
This position will offer a company vehicle; therefore, applicants must have a valid G driver’s license, and a clear driver’s abstract.
Work takes place on construction sites where you will be exposed to:
- Mud, rain, snow, heat/humidity, cold temperatures.
- Carrying survey equipment to/from the vehicle to sites, setting up and dismantling equipment, and ensuring that equipment is monitored when on site.
Work Location: GTA and surrounding areas, along with the opportunity for remote work (out of town at various intervals for 1-2 weeks at a time).
Compensation: $35-$45/hour based on experience.
Expected Working Hours: 35-42 hours per week but may vary.
