To be eligible, youth must:
· be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period;
· be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment*; and,
· have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
* International students are not eligible participants. International students include anyone who is temporarily in Canada for studies and who is not a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada. Youth awaiting a refugee status ruling, as well as those who hold a temporary visitor visa, youth visa or work visa are ineligible
POSITION SUMMARY:
Provide program assistance and clerical/reception support to the Downtown Office
QUALIFICATONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Enrolled or completion of post-secondary education in Business/Office administration Diploma/Degree is considered an asset
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and accuracy in work product
- Ability to contribute both independently and as a team member
- Sensitivity to working with people from diverse backgrounds
- Written and oral communication skills are essential
- Proven competency using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), ability to use the internet and other digital tools for data entry, research, and problem-solving purposes
- Knowledge of a second language is an asset
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
- Assist with data entry, preparing orientation and training material, preparing and maintaining client files
- Assist in the delivery of information sessions in a one to one or in a group setting
- Assist completing forms
- Assist with program activities and services as requested by the supervisor
- Provide all aspects of clerical support as directed by the supervisor
- Assist covering reception
- Other duties as assigned.
