We are looking for an experienced, hands-on construction professional to become the right-hand person to our Lead Contractor. This is a key role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced residential construction environment and enjoys balancing skilled trades work with project coordination and site leadership.You will work across multiple custom residential builds and renovations, helping ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and to the highest quality standards. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable on the tools, reviewing drawings, coordinating trades, and communicating with clients and subcontractors.
Key ResponsibilitiesSite Operations
- Support the Lead Contractor in managing multiple residential construction projects simultaneously.
- Assist with daily site supervision to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to schedule.
- Perform skilled carpentry and general construction work as required.
- Coordinate and oversee subcontractors, suppliers, and deliveries.
- Monitor workmanship to ensure quality standards are consistently met.
- Identify and resolve site issues proactively before they become delays.
Project Coordination
- Read and interpret architectural, structural, and engineering drawings.
- Assist in planning daily and weekly work schedules.
- Coordinate project timelines and ensure milestones are achieved.
- Order and track materials, ensuring inventory is available when needed.
- Communicate schedule changes and project updates to trades and suppliers.
- Assist in documenting progress through photos, reports, and site notes.
Leadership & Communication
- Act as the Lead Contractor's representative when required.
- Provide direction and support to trades, labourers, and subcontractors.
- Maintain professional communication with homeowners, designers, architects, inspectors, and project stakeholders.
- Foster a respectful, organized, and safety-focused job site culture.
- Help mentor junior team members and lead by example.
Quality & Safety
- Ensure projects comply with building codes, safety regulations, and company standards.
- Conduct regular quality inspections throughout each stage of construction.
- Maintain clean, organized, and efficient job sites.
- Assist with deficiency lists, inspections, and project close-outs.
QualificationsRequired
- 5+ years of residential construction experience.
- Strong carpentry background with the ability to perform a wide variety of finish and framing tasks.
- Experience reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications.
- Previous experience supervising crews or coordinating subcontractors.
- Strong understanding of residential construction methods and sequencing.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Professional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities across several active job sites.
- Valid driver's license with reliable transportation.
Preferred
- Experience with custom homes and major residential renovations.
- Knowledge of the Ontario Building Code.
- Familiarity with construction scheduling software or project management tools.
- First Aid/CPR certification.
- Working at Heights certification.
- WHMIS certification.
