About the Zero Emissions Innovation Centre
Seeded by a $21.7 million federal endowment, the Zero Emission Innovation Centre (ZEIC) is a purpose-built charitable organization dedicated to market transformation and enabling zero carbon communities and economies across the region and province. ZEIC is part of the Low Carbon Cities Canada (LC3) Network established by the Government of Canada and the Federation of Canadian Municipalities.
ZEIC’s vision is that, by 2050, climate solutions power thriving, resilient, and equitable urban communities in BC. Working with government, industry, Indigenous partners, and others, we catalyze, accelerate, and scale climate action and the clean energy transition. We advance our mission through a combination of (1) Programs, (2) Strategic Convenings, and (3) Grants & Impact Investing.
To deliver impact, we:
- Serve as an agile hub that connects and activates partners, investors, and action-takers;
- Research, showcase, and educate to move climate and clean energy solutions into the mainstream; and
- Reduce carbon dependency while elevating options that bolster affordability, economic strength, equity, health and resilience.
ZEIC’s efforts seek alignments with provincial, regional, and local climate action plans to collectively move from ideas to implementation at scale for the benefit of current and future generations.
