Reporting to the Supervisor of Plant Operations and Maintenance, the 3rd Class Engineer provides maintenance and operational engineering services related to the operation of mechanical systems throughout the organization. The 3rd Class Engineer will work in cooperation with other trades, outside contractors and laborers to ensure that all applicable specifications, codes, standards and policies are satisfied during the course of his work, and to ensure efficient completion of any project. The 3rd Class Engineer complies with Occupational Health and Safety standards for the hospital and is proactive in promoting a safe work environment
1-2 years of recent related experience in power plant operations – required
Demonstrated knowledge in all pertinent legislation, codes and standards including the Ontario Building Code, Operating Engineers and other relevant Regulations under the Technical Standards and Safety Act, 2000
Advanced mechanical aptitude and trouble shooting ability
Knowledge of the operation of boilers, chillers, HVAC and other electrical machinery
Must be familiar with and able to maintain tools inherent to the work of the trade
Must have ability to perform general and preventative maintenance on mechanical equipment and must possess knowledge in water treatment program
Working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Excellent communication skills; Proficiency in French language is an asset
Graduate of a Power Engineering Technology Diploma Program – required
